Care guide SS 2026
Caring for yourcycling jersey
A well-cared-for technical jersey lasts for years. Treat it badly and it loses its properties within a few washes. Temperature, fabric softener, drying – here's what you really need to know.

Why care matters so much for technical fabrics
A technical cycling jersey is no ordinary garment. Its properties rely on a microscopic fibre structure that the wrong care can damage. Once the micropores are clogged or the elastic fibres degraded, the jersey never regains its original performance.
The ORIZN care protocol
01
Wash after every ride
Sweat left in the fibres fuels bacterial growth, which causes lingering odours and breaks down the fabric. Even after a short ride, a quick wash is a must.
Every ride
02
Delicate cycle, 30 degrees max
Higher temperatures damage the elastic fibres and reduce moisture-wicking efficiency. A delicate cycle limits the mechanical friction that wears down technical fabric.
30 degrees – Delicate
03
No fabric softener
Fabric softener leaves a greasy film on the fibres that clogs the moisture-wicking micropores. The result: the jersey holds on to moisture, develops lingering odours and permanently loses its breathability.
Off limits
04
Air dry only
Tumble dryer heat damages the elastic fibres, distorts the race fit cut and drastically shortens the jersey's lifespan. Technical jerseys air dry in 1 to 2 hours.
No tumble dryer
Dos and don'ts
✓
Do
30 degrees, delicate cycle. Liquid detergent with no bleaching agents. Wash inside out to protect the colours. Hang to air dry.
x
Don't
Fabric softener. Tumble dryer. Temperatures above 30 degrees. High-speed spin. Ironing. Long soaks.
The 5 mistakes that kill a technical jersey
Fatal mistakes – avoid at all costs
- Fabric softener – enemy number one: clogs the fibres for good
- The tumble dryer – destroys elasticity and distorts the race fit cut within a few cycles
- Washing at 40 degrees or more – weakens the bonds between fibres and shortens lifespan
- Letting a worn jersey just dry out – sweat dries into the fibres and causes lingering odours
- Full-speed spin – high-speed spin cycles abrade and deform stretch fabrics
How long does a well-cared-for jersey last?
A properly cared-for ORIZN jersey can last several seasons – tens of thousands of kilometres in total. The main cause of premature ageing isn't the number of rides – it's how you care for it.
Rotating two or three jerseys lets each one dry completely between rides and extends the life of every piece by sparing you emergency hot washes.
Cycling jersey care – FAQ
What temperature should you wash a cycling jersey at?
30 degrees max, on a delicate cycle. Higher temperatures damage the elastic fibres, reduce sweat-wicking efficiency and can distort the race fit cut.
Can you use fabric softener to wash a cycling jersey?
No. Fabric softener is enemy number one for technical sportswear. It leaves a greasy film on the fibres that clogs the micropores responsible for wicking away sweat.
Can you put a cycling jersey in the tumble dryer?
No. Tumble dryer heat damages the elastic fibres in technical fabrics, distorts the race fit cut and shortens the jersey's lifespan. Air drying is the only recommended method.
Should you wash your cycling jersey after every ride?
Yes. Sweat that builds up in the fibres fuels bacterial growth, which causes lingering odours and breaks down the fabric. A quick wash after every ride preserves the technical properties and extends the jersey's lifespan.
The 4 ORIZN care rules
- Wash after every ride, no exceptions
- 30 degrees max, delicate cycle
- No fabric softener – ever
- Air dry only
